ACTIVITIES OF THE GEELONG BREAKFAST CLUB
The Lions Club of Geelong Breakfast has achieved a great deal in its first 2 years or so of existence, and has grand plans for its immediate future.
Major projects in 2002/2003 include:
-
Youth of the Year
-
Marathon fundraiser for the Cottage by the Sea, a disadvantaged children?s accommodation house in Queenscliff ? this involved the Past President Paul Austin completing his 2nd Melbourne Marathon for the Cottage and raising $5,000
-
Good Sports Program ? an Australia-wide program aimed at the responsible serving of alcohol in sporting and recreational clubs, whereby members have been trained to introduce clubs to the program
-
Relay for Life - we participate in the annual event to raise money for cancer research, by entering a team
Peter McCallum Cancer Foundation - we are contributing to a project that places a research university student into the clinic to research the cancer challenge
2003/2004 will be another busy year with further development of the Good Sports Program, another Melbourne Marathon effort and numerous fundraising activities.
